FLOWER POWER

The annual Floralies in the lovely village of Saint Jean de Cole took place last weekend. This annual event always takes place during the second weekend in May and draws a crowd from all over the Dordogne region. The village is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France and provides an idyllic backdrop for this charming event.

The stunning chateau which dominates the village and beautiful church are home to some spectacular flower displays. Each year there is a different theme. This year the theme was sport, a fitting theme given that the Olympics are in Paris very soon.

With 60 different stalls, there was a huge array of plants and flowers to browse or gather advice from the knowledgeable gardeners. At LPC Dordogne Holidays we always buy our tomato plants from here as they offer some unusual varieties. We grow all of our fruit and vegetables organically and no doubt as the tomatoes ripen under the Dordogne sunshine they will be bursting with flavour and sweetness.

Whenever we have a glut of fresh fuit or vegetables we are happy to offer these to our guests at LPC Dordogne Holidays with our compliments. Guests at the moment are enjoying a glut of strawberries, rhubarb and caramelised walnuts from our harvest in November which gave us over 50kg.

This event is a great one to combine with a weekend break or short stay at LPC Dordogne Holidays; a couples retreat reserved exclusively for 2 adults and a destination where you can choose to do as much or as little as you wish. 2025 bookings are now open.
